Strawflower Seeds (Helichrysum bracteatum)

Harvested from the gardens at Monticello.
Strawflower, a half-hardy annual that withstands light frosts, was introduced from Australia to England in 1799, and has since been treasured for its everlasting flowers that are ideal for dried arrangements. These seeds contain a mixture of yellow, orange, white, and purple flowers, which are all handsome in the summer border.

Start seeds indoors 6-8 weeks before the last frost date. Transplant to 3" pots once they have several true leaves, then harden off and transplant after last frost. Alternatively, direct sow outdoors after all danger of frost has passed. Approximately 25 seeds per packet.
